ADEN — The Yemeni army said Sunday that 260 Houthi fighters were killed in 97 military operations targeting reinforcements and positions on fronts in the Taiz and Lahj provinces.Military spokesman Col. Majed Al-Nuzaili said the operations involved warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles and snipers. He added that 44 military vehicles, transport vehicles and supply assets were destroyed or damaged during the operations. The announcement came hours after the Yemeni army said at least 700 Houthi fighters had been killed in 257 operations across several fronts.Fighting in Yemen has intensified since the collapse in July of the relative calm that followed the 2022 truce.Yemen’s conflict began after the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and several provinces in 2014, prompting an Arab coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
