RIYADH — The Saudi Civil Defense urged residents in Jazan to take precautions after the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert for heavy rainfall and flash floods on Thursday. According to the NCM, the alert covers the entire Abu Arish Governorate in the Jazan Region and is in effect from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13. According to the NCM, the heavy rainfall is expected to be accompanied by high-speed winds, near-zero horizontal visibility, hail, flash floods, and thunderstorms. The Civil Defense also issued a warning over the weather conditions affecting parts of the Jazan Region, urging residents to exercise caution during rainfall, follow official instructions, and stay away from areas where water accumulates, as well as valleys and flood channels.
