Crude oil stockpiles in the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve fell by about 5.1 million barrels to 311.4 million barrels last week, marking their lowest level since March 1983. 
According to the latest data from the US Department of Energy, the strategic reserve stockpiles have fallen by 104.04 million barrels since the start of the war on Iran at the end of February until July 17, reported Reuters.
Total US inventories – which include commercial stocks and the Strategic Emergency Reserve together –fell by 129 million barrels to 726.2 million barrels as of July 10, the lowest level since 1984.
This continued withdrawal comes as part of Washington’s commitment to an agreement to release 172 million barrels from the strategic oil reserve to reduce energy supply pressures.
