Al-Aboudi explained to Asharq that Iraq seeks a fair production quota commensurate with its population size and the size of its oil reserves.

He added that Baghdad is also demanding consideration for periods of halt or decline in its oil exports in the past, which allowed other countries to increase their production and compensate for the shortfall in the markets.

This comes after statements by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi, in which he indicated that his country does not intend to withdraw from the organization.
