PARIS — Saudi Arabia secured a seat on the executive committee of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) for the first time, with Adhwan Alahmari elected to represent the Kingdom.The executive committee will oversee the federation’s work for the next four years.The election came amid strong international competition involving more than 148 countries, with only 16 securing seats on the committee.Alahmari said the victory reflects international recognition of the work carried out by the Saudi Journalists Association over the past years.“This achievement represents the work of my colleagues in the board and general secretariat,” he said, adding that the association had already strengthened its international role through leadership positions in regional journalism bodies.He said the organization will continue efforts to expand Saudi Arabia’s international media presence in line with the Kingdom’s global standing.The Saudi Journalists Association participated in the IFJ Congress and the federation’s centenary celebrations in Paris from May 4 to 7 with a delegation led by Alahmari and including board members Lama Alshathri, May Alsharif, and Hamed Alshehri.
