The National Center for Water Efficiency and Rationalization (MAEE) issued the Executive Regulation for Monitoring and Compliance with Water Efficiency and Rationalization Standards, which will take effect on March 21, 2026.

The new regulation aims to develop a comprehensive mechanism to ensure adherence to water efficiency and rationalization practices to achieve water sustainability, as well as ensure the implementation of the MAEE’s strategic plan and compliance with water efficiency and rationalization standards, the MAEE stated to SPA news agency.

The regulation includes 15 basic articles, covering its objectives and scope of application, standards of commitment to water efficiency and rationalization, roles and responsibilities of MAEE and other entities, as well as violations, monitoring and referral mechanisms, and final provisions.

Furthermore, the regulation comes as part of efforts to increase commitment to water efficiency and rationalization in the urban, agricultural, and industrial sectors and contribute to achieving water sustainability, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
