Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasury bonds reached $126.9 billion in January, down $10.6 million month-on-month, marking the largest drop since April 2020, new data released by the US Treasury showed.

Accordingly, the Kingdom maintained its 17th place among the largest holders of US Treasuries for the month.

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries were distributed among long-term bonds worth $105.3 billion, representing 83% of the total. Meanwhile, short-term bonds amounted to $21.6 billion, accounting for 17%.

Japan was the top holder of US Treasury bonds by value in January, with $1.07 trillion, followed by China ($760.8 billion).
