MUNICH — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday he held talks with envoys of U.S. President Donald Trump in Germany to prepare for upcoming trilateral peace negotiations in Geneva.Speaking during his visit to the Munich Security Conference, Zelenskyy said he met with Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, ahead of the next round of talks involving Ukraine, the United States and Russia.“I had a conversation with envoys of President Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, ahead of the trilateral meetings in Geneva. We count on the meetings being truly productive,” Zelenskyy said in a statement.The Ukrainian leader noted that the discussions also covered developments from previous negotiation rounds held in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, as diplomatic efforts continue following U.S.-mediated contacts.Zelenskyy also met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, expressing appreciation for Washington’s support.“We greatly appreciate that America consistently maintains a constructive approach and is ready to assist in protecting lives,” he said, confirming that Ukraine’s negotiating team would formally present its position during the next round of talks in Geneva.
