The US stock market is closed today in observance of the Independence Day, with trading set to resume normally at the start of next week.

In Thursday’s shortened session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.75% to close at 44,828 points. The SP 500 gained 0.85% to 6,279, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1% to 20,601.

All three major indices ended the week higher, with the Dow Jones posting a 2.25% weekly gain, while the SP 500 and Nasdaq rose by 1.7% and 1.6%, respectively, supported by record closing levels.

However, US stock futures fell after President Donald Trump announced that his administration would begin sending letters to various countries outlining new tariff measures, ahead of the July 9 negotiation deadline.
