Commercial crude inventories fell by 3.8 million barrels, beating expectations for a decrease by 900,000 barrels, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday.

Gasoline inventories climbed by 7.7 million barrels, while distillate stocks, including diesel and heating oil, increased by 5.6 million barrels.
