Crude oil inventories in the United States rose by more than one million barrels during the week ended April 4, data from the American Petroleum Institute (API).

Gasoline stocks increased by 207,000 barrels during the past week, while distillate stocks – which include diesel and heating oil – decreased by 1.8 million barrels.

Meanwhile, Brent crude futures for June delivery fell by 2.15%, or $1.39, to close at $62.82 a barrel on April 8.

WTI crude futures for May delivery declined 1.85%, or $1.12, to $59.58 a barrel.
