WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump warned Tuesday that a “whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran fails to agree to a deal ahead of a deadline set for 8 p.m. in Washington.The stark warning came about 12 hours before the deadline for Tehran to reach an agreement that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz or face potential strikes.“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.He added: “We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world.”Despite the warning, Trump left open the possibility of a diplomatic breakthrough, saying that “maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen.”
