Trump stated in his letters that the new tariffs will take effect on Aug. 1, 2025.

Earlier in the day, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump would issue an executive order extending the mutual tariff suspension until Aug. 1.

Each of Trump’s letters reportedly contained a standard clause warning that if any of the targeted countries retaliate by raising tariffs on US goods, the US will match the increase.

For instance, if Indonesia imposes a 10% tariff on US products, the US will raise its total tariff on Indonesian goods from 32% to 42% in response.
