RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert forecasting thunderstorms of varying intensity across most regions of the Kingdom from Friday through Sunday. In a statement, the NCM said the weather system will include strong downdraft winds stirring up dust and sand, with speeds that may exceed 60 km/h, in addition to hail, potential flash flooding in some areas, and high waves along the coasts. According to the forecast, Tabuk, Al Jouf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Qassim, and Madinah regions are expected to experience intermittent moderate to heavy rainfall. Affected areas include Tabuk, NEOM, Tayma, Haql, Al Wajh, Umluj, Al Bada’, Duba, Sakaka, Dumat Al Jandal, Arar, Rafha, Al Owaiqilah, Hail, Al Ghazalah, Al Shamli, Baqaa, Buraidah, Unayzah, Al Rass, Al Mithnab, Al Asyah, as well as Madinah, Yanbu, Khaybar, Badr, and Al Mahd. Light to moderate rainfall is also forecast for parts of the Riyadh, Eastern Province, and Makkah regions. In Riyadh, the city and several surrounding governorates may be affected, while the Eastern Province could see rain in Hafr Al Batin, Al Khafji, Al Nu’ayriyah, Al Jubail, Dammam, Al Qatif, and Al Ahsa. In the Makkah region, the forecast includes Makkah city, Jeddah, Rabigh, Khulais, Al Jumum, Bahrah, and Al Kamil. The NCM urged the public to follow its official updates and warnings through its website, media platforms, and the “Anwaa” application, and to adhere to safety instructions issued by relevant authorities to protect lives and property.
