Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) stopped granting new licenses for motorcycles to deliver orders through applications, until the new regulations are issued, the authority’s spokesman Saleh Al-Zuwayed revealed.
Those who provide services through delivery apps by motorcycles are companies that have previously obtained the license in the experimental organizational environment stage, which has now ended, he added according to Al Eqtisadiah newspaper.
According to the data available in Argaam, the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser approved the regulations of the light goods transportation on roads.
The regulation aims to regulate the transport of goods on the roads with light transport vehicles, whose total weight does not exceed 3500 kg. This will contribute to raising the efficiency and quality of the transport of goods in all its patterns, supporting logistical movement, supply chains, preserving the environment, raising the safety level and improving services provided to beneficiaries as well as organizing the relationship between all parties to the transportation process.
