Adel Al-Zahrani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports for Media and Marketing, said that the winning companies in the tender of the Sports Clubs Investment Privatization Project will be announced during the second quarter of 2025.
The ministry announced earlier the offering of 14 clubs, including six in the current phase, while the remaining clubs will be in the second phase, he told Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper.
Al-Zahrani also noted that the second phase will include the private offering of a number of clubs, which will be announced after the end of the current phase.
He expects that the companies that did not win the current phase to participate in the second phase.
In June 2024, the Ministry of Sports launched, in coordination with the National Privatization Center (NPC), the second phase of the second pillar in the Sports Clubs Investment Privatization Project. This came in the implementation of the Cabinet decision to privatize 14 sports clubs of various grades, data available to Argaam showed.
This phase included the offering of six sports clubs set for privatization to local and international investors, namely Al-Zulfi, Al-Nahda, Al-Okhdood, Al-Ansar, Al-Orouba, and Al-Kholood clubs.
