Assets of Saudi private investment funds rose by 7% year-on-year to SAR 500.1 billion in Q3 2024, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) said in a recent report.

The investment funds include a number of securities that are selected based on specific bases and criteria that achieve the fund’s investment objectives.

Profits generated by investment funds are usually capital gains, which are profits resulting from any improvement or change in prices of invested securities, in addition to dividends, if any.

Meanwhile, a private fund is defined as an investment fund established in the Kingdom, which is not a public fund and whose units may be offered to investors in the Kingdom in accordance with the provisions contained in Chapter Five of the Investment Funds Regulations.

Real estate fund assets dominated 41.6% of total assets owned by private investment funds, at SAR 208 billion. They were followed by equity funds with 41.5%, or SAR 207.4 billion.

The number of private investment funds rose to 1,154, compared to 1,085 in Q2 2024.

Meanwhile, the number of subscribers to private investment funds amounted to nearly 131,000 in Q3 2024, up from 121,900 subscribers by the end of Q2 2024.
