Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports rose 2% year-on-year (YoY) to nearly SAR 84.2 billion in December 2025,according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

Compared to November 2025, merchandise imports rose 5%, or nearly SAR 3.8 billion.

Machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment and their parts thereof topped imports in December, representing 31% or SAR 26.5 billion of the Kingdom’s total imports. Vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment followed at about 16%.

December 2025 imports saw increases in several categories, notably electrical machinery and equipment by 28% and transport equipment by 10%, along with moderate rises in plant and animal products and their derivatives.

Meanwhile, some categories recorded significant declines, such as metal products down 32% and jewelry down 40%, in addition to slight decreases in chemical products, basic metals, and other categories.

Saudi Arabia’s imports came mainly from China, with SAR 24.2 billion, representing 29% of the total in December 2025.

The US ranked second with SAR 6 billion, followed by the UAE, Germany, and India, each contributing between 4.7% and 5%.

The top 10 exporters to Saudi Arabia accounted for almost 67%, or SAR 56.4 billion, of total imports in the same month.
