Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports increased 7% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 74.9 billion in August 2025, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

Compared to July, 2025, merchandise imports were down 9%, or nearly SAR 7.5 billion.

Machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment and their parts topped imports in August, representing 30% or SAR 22.3 billion of the Kingdom’s total imports. Vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment followed, with 14%.

Saudi Arabia’s imports came mainly from China, with SAR 19.8 billion, representing 26% of the total in August 2025. The US came in second with SAR 5.8 billion, followed by the UAE at SAR 4.04 billion.

The top 10 exporters to Saudi Arabia accounted for almost 64%, or SAR 48.3 billion, of total imports in the same month, as shown below:
