Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries declined to $134.8 billion in January 2026, down by $14.7 billion compared to December 2025.
As a result, the Kingdom slipped one place to 18th among the largest holders of US Treasuries, overtaken by South Korea, whose holdings rose to over $141 billion.
Saudi Arabia’s investments in US Treasuries during January were split into $106.2 billion in long-term bonds, accounting for 78.8% of the total, and $28.6 billion in short-term bonds, representing 21.2%.
Globally, Japan remained the largest holder of US Treasuries in January with about $1.22 trillion, followed by the UK at $895.3 billion.
