Saudi Chemica Co. Holding obtained the Saudi Food and Drug Authority’s (SFDA) approval to register Ticagrelor as a fully locally manufactured product at the AJA Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (AJA Pharma) factory.

In a statement to Tadawultoday, Feb. 9, the Saudi-listed company expected the move to fuel a more than SAR 35 million revenue increase over a five-year period after marketing.

According to data compiled by Argaam, Saudi Chemical, represented by AJA Pharma, signed in January 2024 a contract with the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA) for the localization and technology transfer of the pharmaceutical product, Ticagrelor, for its inclusion on the mandatory list.

Ticagrelor is the first drug to be entirely manufactured locally. It is critical for the prevention of strokes and heart attacks.
