Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef confirmed that the Kingdom ranks first in the Arab world and tenth globally in cement production volume, with a production capacity of more than 80 million tons annually, through 20 Saudi factories, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The production capacities of Saudi cement companies are witnessing progress, with the aim to fulfill the needs of the local market and development projects in the Kingdom. This is in addition to contributing to providing the commodity in global markets, as Saudi cement and clinker exports in 2023 amounted to more than 8.48 million tons, according to the Minister.
In his speech during the launch ceremony of the first sustainability report by City Cement Co., Alkhorayef indicated that the local demand for cement reached about 47.3 million tons last year, adding that with expectations that the volume of spending on the construction sector will reach SAR 6 trillion by 2030, cement production will likely see strong demand, in light of the giant ongoing development projects in the Kingdom.
