Khalil Ibrahim bin Salamah, Deputy Minister for Industry Affairs
Saudi Arabia aims to shift eight million tons from the chemicals sector, specifically in plastics, from export to local manufacturing, Al Eqtisadiah reported, citing Khalil Ibrahim Ibn Salamah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industry Affairs.
The ministry categorized sectors based on their current critical needs, including the manufacturing chemicals, which produces estimated 80 million tons of basic materials, said Ibn Salamah on the sidelines of the Standard Incentives Program launch ceremony in Riyadh.
The automotive sector is among the promising industries in Saudi Arabia, with three car factories being established; one has already commenced production, while the other two are in the construction phase.
Ibn Salamah underpinned the importance of fully supporting these factories with a supply chain that could involve up to 300 facilities, to ensure the completion of the majority of the supply chain, including metallic, plastic, and electrical materials.
