Saudi air defenses intercept multiple drones targeting Shaybah oil field

RIYADH — Saudi Ministry of Defense said early Monday its air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones targeting the Shaybah oil field in the Empty Quarter.Defense Ministry spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki said air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Empty Quarter that was heading toward the Shaybah field.He added that another drone was intercepted and destroyed east of the Al-Jouf Region.Al-Maliki said Saudi air defenses also intercepted and destroyed four drones in the Empty Quarter that were heading toward the Shaybah oil field.In separate incidents, two additional drones were intercepted and destroyed in the Empty Quarter while flying toward the same facility.Another drone targeting the Shaybah field was also intercepted and destroyed in the Empty Quarter, he added.
