Riyadh Cement Co. begun today, Feb. 23, pilot operations for its waste heat recovery (WHR) electricity project.

In a Tadawul filing, the company said full-scale operations are expected in the second half of this year, which will reduce energy costs and cut emissions.

The company added that project costs and any updates will be disclosed upon completion, noting the project is self-financed.

According to Argaam data, Riyadh Cement signed a $34.8 million (SAR 130.5 million) contract in November 2023 with Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. to build the 12.64-megawatt Project set to span 20 months and financed through a local bank.

The project spans 20 months and will be financed through a local bank.
