Retal Urban Development Co. created the Managing Director (MD) position and appointed Abdullah Albraikan to the role, effective April 13, 2026.

Albraikan, who headed Retal as CEO since it was established in 2012, stepped down from the position and the company appointed Kamal Ahmed as the new CEO effective April 13.

The decisions were approved by the board during a meeting on April 12, Retal said in a statement to Tadawul.

Albraikan joined the board as a member in 2019, the statement added.

He holds vast professional experience in real estate development and business administration. He has been on the board of several leading businesses in real estate development, urban development, investment, and finance.

He has also actively contributed to housing initiatives, urban development programs, and community service efforts across Saudi Arabia.

Albraikan holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from King Faisal University in Dammam, the statement added.

Meanwhile, Kamal Ahmed served as President of the Electricity and Water Authority in Bahrain. He held the rank of Minister from June 2022 until February 2026.

He possesses extensive and long-standing experience in vital sectors, having previously held the position of Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications for 11 years, as well as serving as Minister for Cabinet Affairs.

In addition, he has chaired and served as board member in several public entities and companies in Bahrain, including Bahrain Economic Development board, Mumtalakat Holding, Gulf Air Group, Bahrain Airport, and Edamah Real Estate.

Ahmed holds a master’s degree in international project management from the University of Leeds in the UK, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from University of Bahrain.

These resolutions come as part of the company’s continued growth and qualitative development, reflecting its commitment to strengthening corporate governance practices, supporting the achievement of its strategic objectives, to ensure the sustainability of its business and maximize the value for its shareholders, Retal noted.
