The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) said Saudi Arabia recorded 190,000 remote workers by the end of Q2 2025, with women comprising 85% of the total, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported. 
The ministry expects local firms to increasingly embrace remote work, either full-time or part-time, amid rapid digital transformation and enhanced communication tools that enable secure, efficient employee-employer interaction.
The ministry noted that remote work enhances talent attraction, increases workplace flexibility, and promotes work-life balance, with key sectors adopting the model, including municipalities and housing, commerce, industry, transport, and information and communication technology (ICT).
Around 2.39 million Saudis work in the private sector, including 1.4 million men and 1 million women, according to Argaam’s data.
Saudi unemployment dropped to a record low of 6.3% in Q1 2025 from 7% in Q4 2024, surpassing the Vision 2030 target; the ministry now aims to lower it further to 5% as a new target.
