REGA says new changes to registration system to make property records more accurate

The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) said the new changes to the property registration system are designed to make property records more accurate and trustworthy. The updates will help confirm “absolute evidentiary authority” more quickly and will also strengthen privacy by protecting owners’ personal information.

The Cabinet earlier approved amendments to several articles of the real estate title registration system.

The authority pointed out that, in terms of enhancing the reliability of ownership data, the amendment provides that title deeds will obtain absolute evidentiary authority within a period not exceeding one year from the date the lists of properties registered under the title registration system are published. This period will be specified in the announcement issued for each real estate zone.

This step will help shorten the timeframe required to obtain absolute evidentiary authority and accelerate the reliability of title deeds registered under the system.

Regarding personal data protection, the amendment stipulates that lists of properties registered under the system will be published through appropriate channels to be determined by the regulations.

This amendment aligns with the nature of in-rem rights, which relate directly to the property itself, thereby safeguarding owners’ personal data and enhancing the quality and reliability of the real estate registry.
