MAKKAH— Worshipers across Saudi Arabia performed the istisqa (rain-seeking) prayer on Thursday. This was in line with a call from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to perform rain-seeking prayer throughout the Kingdom on Thursday.Deputy Emir of Makkah Prince Saud bin Mishal was among those who performed the prayer at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. In a sermon delivered after leading the prayer, Grand Mosque Imam and Khatib Sheikh Abdullah Al-Juhani urged the faithful to fear God, praise Him as He deserves, and remain steadfast in supplication. He emphasized that piety enhances sustenance, extends lifespans, and brings blessings of rain and harvest.Emir of Madinah Prince Salman bin Sultan along with a large congregation offered rain-seeking prayer at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. The prayer was led by Imam Sheikh Abdul Bari Al-Thubaiti.Following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), rain-seeking prayer is performed during times of drought and delayed rainfall as an act of seeking Allah’s grace for abundant rain.
