Qatar says it is not part of US-Israeli campaign, defends territory against Iranian attacks

DOHA — Qatar said Tuesday it is defending its territory against Iranian attacks and is not part of the US-Israeli military campaign targeting Iran.“Qatar has not been part of the campaign targeting Iran. We are exercising our right in self-defense and deterring Iranian attacks against our country,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari wrote on X.He urged media outlets to rely on credible Qatari sources when reporting on developments related to the country.Local media reported Tuesday evening that Qatari air defenses intercepted an aerial target over the capital, Doha.Al Jazeera said air defenses downed a projectile in the skies above the city, with explosions heard across the capital.Regional tensions escalated after the United States and Israel launched large-scale strikes on Iran on Saturday.
