RIYADH — Public Security has called on citizens and residents to report visit visa holders who overstay their permitted period, warning of penalties of up to SR50,000 and imprisonment for up to six months for failing to notify authorities of a visitor’s departure after the visa expires.Authorities said the sponsor may also face deportation if the violator is a non-Saudi resident who fails to report the overstay, stressing that the violation exposes the sponsor to strict legal penalties.Recent statistics issued by the General Directorate of Passports showed that 19,559 administrative decisions were issued against citizens and residents for violations of residency, labor and border security regulations during the month of Rajab.The penalties included imprisonment, fines and deportation in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.The Passports Directorate urged citizens, residents, business owners and individuals not to transport, employ or shelter violators of residency, labor and border security laws, nor to conceal them or provide any assistance in securing employment, housing or transportation.It also called for cooperation in reporting violators, affirming that all reports will be treated with complete confidentiality and that the informant will bear no liability.
