The average prices of 79 out of 169 goods and services in 10 categories in Saudi Arabia turned higher year-on-year (YoY) in August, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
White American cardamom was the highest gainer last month, up 16.89% YoY, followed by African medium lemon with a 14.99% YoY increase.
Meanwhile, local medium potatoes were the biggest decliner, dropping by 20.57% YoY, followed by local tomatoes, which declined by 16.49% YoY.
Prices of 18 housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel items rose in August, while 20 others declined compared to the same period in 2024.
Elsewhere, prices of four recreation, sports, and culture items increased, while one item declined YoY.
Prices of 22 construction materials rose on an annual basis last month, while 16 others decreased YoY.
In the clothing category, prices of six items increased YoY, while six others retreated YoY for the same month.
The price of one miscellaneous personal service and commodity went up YoY, while two fell annually.
Likewise, prices of two household furniture, appliances, and maintenance items rose in August 2025 versus August 2024, while the other two also increased.
Prices of the three health services witnessed a YoY rise in the same month, while one saw a decline.
For transport services, one rose and the other declined in August.
However, prices of restaurants, hotel rooms and furnished apartments fell YoY.
Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro packs ticked lower YoY by the end of August.
