PARIS — The Paris prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday that the French offices of Elon Musk’s social media platform X were being searched as part of a recently-launched investigation.The prosecutor’s cybercrime unit is conducting the searches with the support of Europol and the French police’s own cybercrime department, it said in a post on X.The action is related to an investigation opened in January 2025, the prosecutor added. It did not provide details about the nature of the probe.The prosecutor’s office said both Musk and former X chief executive officer Linda Yaccarino had been summoned to appear at hearings in April as part of its probe.It said the probe, led by French cyber-crime police, was expanded in July 2025 after reports of sexually explicit deepfakes and holocaust denial content circulating on the platform.X has not commented on the raids. X previously described the probe as “politically-motivated” and an attack on free speech while it allegations it had manipulated its algorithm. — Agencies
