SURABAYA — More than 21,500 fasting individuals gathered at the Grand Mosque in Surabaya, Indonesia, under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Iftar Program, in one of the largest Ramadan gatherings in the country.The program was implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the religious attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Indonesia, in an atmosphere marked by spiritual reflection.Iftar meals were distributed alongside the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ gift of premium dates.Among the beneficiaries were about 5,000 male and female memorizers of the Holy Quran, highlighting the Kingdom’s support for Quran reciters and its continued backing of their educational journey.East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa attended the event, along with religious, military and community leaders, who expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in serving Islam and Muslims.Saudi religious attaché Ahmad Al-Hazmi said the program reflects the Kingdom’s continued commitment to Islamic and humanitarian work and to strengthening ties between peoples.Governor Khofifah thanked the Saudi government for its efforts in supporting Islam and Muslims.The initiative is part of a broader series of charitable programs carried out by the Kingdom during Ramadan in several countries.
