Oil prices extended gains today, April 2, following the speech by US President Donald Trump that cast further doubt on the prospects for war in the Middle East.
Brent crude was trading up 6.5% at $107.74 a barrel, at 08:56 am Makkah time. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) jumped 5.95% to $105.81 a barrel.
In a speech from the White House, Trump said that the key strategic objectives of military operations against Iran were nearing completion, but that Washington would strike them very hard in the next two to three weeks.
The US president threatened to target all of Iran’s power plants if an agreement is not reached during the ongoing negotiations.
