Total commercial oil inventories in OECD countries fell by 3.2 million barrels month-on-month (MoM) in June to 2.78 billion barrels, OPEC’s monthly report, released today, Aug. 12, showed.

On an annual basis, inventories were down by 57.9 million barrels and were about 91.7 million barrels below the five-year average, as well as 158.6 million barrels lower than the 2015–2019 average.

Preliminary data indicated that total US commercial oil inventories rose by 19.7 million barrels MoM in July to 1.26 billion barrels.

However, this figure remains 25.8 million barrels lower compared to the same month in 2024 and 40.8 million barrels below the five-year average.
