The National Committee for Pharmaceutical Industries (NCPI), affiliated withtheFederation of Saudi Chambers, is reassessing certain articles in health insurance policies, Chairman Abdelrahman Almutairi said, Al Eqtisadiah reported.

This is in a reformulation attempt aimed at aligning the interests of both the health and pharmaceutical sectors, in cooperation with several concerned authorities, he added.

Further, Almutairi stated that investments in the Saudi pharmaceutical market have grown significantly to reach approximately SAR 42 billion, with expectations to surpass SAR 50 billion in the coming years.

He noted that the Saudi pharmaceutical market is growing at an annual rate of 5%, with efforts focused onincreasing local investments to curb reliance on imports.

Almutairi also highlighted key achievements by NCPI, namely updating the guidelines of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), including the pricing guide, to align with the needs of the local industrial sector.

Besides, the committee has contributed to supporting local manufacturing and enhancing production capacities to ensure pharmaceutical security, theChairmanadded.
