RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued orange and yellow alerts for several regions across the Kingdom due to dust storms, blowing dust and active winds reducing visibility and posing risks to motorists and commuters.Orange alerts, indicating more severe weather conditions, were issued for parts of the Eastern Province, including Jubail, Khobar, Dammam, Qatif, Ras Tanura, Al-Khafji, Al-Nu’ayriyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya and Hafar Al-Batin.The alerts began between 04:00 and 11:00 on Sunday and are set to continue until 20:00.In the Tabuk Region, Al-Wajh and Umluj were also placed under an orange alert from 09:00 until 18:00 on Sunday.Authorities warned of continued blowing dust and active winds in these areas, with horizontal visibility potentially dropping to near zero and ranging between 1 and 3 kilometers.Yellow alerts, signaling moderate weather impacts, were issued for parts of the Northern Borders Region, Al-Jawf Region and Madinah Region.In the Northern Borders Region, Rafha, Al-Uwayqilah, Ar’ar and Turaif have been under warnings since as early as 09:00 on Saturday, with alerts continuing on Sunday until between 13:00 and 16:00.In Al-Jawf Region, Dawmat Al-Jandal, Sakaka, Al-Qurayyat and Tubarjal were placed under yellow alerts beginning at 02:00 and 11:30 on Sunday, with end times set for either 13:00 or 18:00.In the Madinah Region, Wadi Al-Far’ is under a yellow alert from 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.Dust-raising winds in areas under yellow alert are expected to reduce horizontal visibility to between 3 and 5 kilometers.The NCM urged residents to exercise caution, especially while driving, and to follow official updates as weather conditions continue to develop.
