The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued 20 new mining licenses in February 2024.

These licenses included nine building materials quarry licenses, six surplus mineral ore licenses and five reconnaissance licenses.

The total number of active mining licenses in the sector amounted to 2,457 licenses by the end of February, led by building materials licenses (1,581 licenses), then exploration with 611 licenses, according to National Center of Industrial and Mining Information.

The mining and exploitation of small mines came third (195 licenses), followed by reconnaissance (42 licenses), and surplus mineral ore (28 licenses)
