The Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA) added 105 more products to the mandatory list of national products, with expected government spending of more than SAR 2.3 billion.
According to state-run news agency SPA, these products are distributed across seven strategic sectors, including pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, building and construction, transport and logistics, furniture, cyber security, and information technology.
The move is part of the authority’s efforts to adhere to the local content preference regulation. This is besides supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as listed companies in a bid to boost local supply chains.
The updated list is aimed at maximizing local content in national economy through government spending. There are 103 factories currently catering to government demand.
