NEW YORK — New York’s LaGuardia Airport was closed to flights early Monday after a collision between an Air Canada aircraft and a Port Authority vehicle on the runway.The New York Police Department confirmed the incident but did not immediately provide further details.The New York City Fire Department said crews responded at 11:38 p.m. to reports of a plane striking a vehicle on the runway.Flight tracking site FlightRadar24 earlier reported that an Air Canada Express aircraft was involved in a collision with a ground vehicle at the airport.Authorities warned of major disruptions, with New York’s emergency management agency advising the public to expect cancellations, road closures and traffic delays near the airport in Queens.The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop for all flights, citing an emergency situation. A notice indicated a high likelihood of extended delays, with the airport potentially remaining closed until 2 p.m. local time (1800 GMT).
