KUWAIT — Kuwait’s Interior Ministry announced Monday the arrest of a terrorist cell linked to the banned Hezbollah organization, accused of plotting to destabilize security and recruit individuals inside the country.In a statement carried by state television, the ministry said security authorities uncovered the group following intensive surveillance and investigations, revealing an organized sabotage plot targeting the country’s sovereignty and stability.The cell consisted of 14 Kuwaiti nationals and two Lebanese nationals, the ministry said, adding that their activities aimed to spread chaos and undermine public order, posing a direct threat to national security.Authorities said a range of items were seized after obtaining approval from the Public Prosecution, including firearms, ammunition, a weapon used for assassinations, encrypted communication devices, drones, flags and images linked to terrorist groups, maps, narcotics, cash, and training weapons.The ministry said investigations are ongoing, with suspects being referred to the Public Prosecution, while efforts continue to track down anyone linked to the group.It stressed that Kuwait’s security and sovereignty are a “red line,” warning that any cooperation with foreign terrorist entities or support for such groups will be met with strict and decisive action.
