BAGHDAD — Iraq on Monday reiterated its rejection of using its territory as a launch point for attacks against neighboring countries amid rising regional tensions.The remarks came during a meeting in Baghdad between Iraqi Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom and Mohammad Hassan Al-Zaman.“Iraq rejects the logic of war in general, and in particular the use of its territory as a launching pad for targeting neighboring countries,” Bahr Al-Uloom said, according to a statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.He added that the Iraqi government is taking all necessary measures to pursue those responsible for any acts that harm Iraq’s interests or its relations with neighboring states.The Kuwaiti ambassador conveyed Kuwait’s concerns regarding Iranian attacks on the Gulf nation, the statement said.According to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, the ambassador also presented information about attacks originating from Iraqi territory and called on Baghdad to intervene to stop them in order to preserve the fraternal relations between the two neighboring countries.Both sides agreed that Iraq and Kuwait are directly affected by the ongoing regional escalation and stressed the need for joint efforts to safeguard regional security and manage the current crisis.
