TEHRAN — Talks between Iran and the United States, held with the support of regional countries, marked “a step forward,” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday.“Dialogue has always been our strategy for achieving peaceful solutions,” Pezeshkian wrote in a post on X, adding that Iran’s approach to the nuclear issue is based on “the rights guaranteed under the Non-Proliferation Treaty.”He stressed that Iran “responds to respect with respect but does not accept the language of force,” underscoring Tehran’s long-standing position amid renewed tensions with Washington.Iran and the United States resumed indirect talks on Friday after weeks of heightened strain, fueled by US President Donald Trump’s warnings of possible military action against Iran.Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the talks as a “good start,” saying they could continue if an atmosphere of distrust is overcome. He said both sides agreed that the diplomatic process would move forward and that they could reconvene in Muscat, Oman, at a later date.Araghchi reiterated that Iran’s missile program is not subject to negotiations, now or in the future, describing it as a defensive matter.
