TEHRAN — Iran’s judiciary said Saturday that several political activists detained in recent weeks have been conditionally released on bail as legal proceedings continue. In a statement carried by Mehr News Agency, the judiciary said the releases followed the completion of initial investigations and formal warnings issued to the detainees regarding “the nature of their actions and conduct.”The individuals were freed “on an appropriate bail order and on a conditional basis” until judicial proceedings are concluded, the statement said. The judiciary added that in separate cases where final court rulings had already been issued, sentences are being enforced and those individuals are serving their prison terms. The arrests followed weeks of unrest that began over economic grievances and later escalated into violence. Official figures say more than 3,000 people were killed during the clashes.Iranian authorities have accused the United States and Israel of backing what they described as “rioting” and “terrorism.”
