The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued 13 new mining licenses in February 2025. 
These licenses included five exploration licenses, six building materials quarry licenses, and one for reconnaissance and exploitation of small mines license, the Ministry added.
The total number of active mining licenses in the sector reached 2,390 by the end of February, led by building materials licenses (1,470), followed by exploration (644).
The mining and exploitation of small mines came in third with 221 licenses, followed by reconnaissance (38 licenses) and surplus mineral ore (16 licenses).
