Foreign individual investors were net buyers of SAR 39 million worth of stocks on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) in the week ended Feb. 5, according to recent data issued by Tadawul.
According to Tadawul’s weekly report on ownership value and trading value, direct purchases by foreign individual investors totaled around SAR 530.74 million, accounting for 2.04% of total turnover, compared to sell trades worth SAR 492.07 million.
Net purchases by foreign institutions amounted to about SAR 1.22 billion. Foreign institutions accounted for 41.93% of total buy transactions in TASI, compared to 37.24% of total sell trades.
The Capital Market Authority opened Saudi Arabia’s stock market to all categories of foreign investors effective Feb. 1, 2026, enabling them to invest directly.
The approved amendments abolished the concept of the Qualified Foreign Investor (QFI) in the Main Market, allowing all categories of foreign investors to enter the market without the need to meet qualification requirements. The regulatory framework for SWAP agreements—previously used as an option to enable non-resident foreign investors to obtain only the economic benefits of listed securities—was also canceled, permitting direct investment in shares listed on the Main Market.
Retail investors and Saudi corporates were net sellers of shares worth SAR 831.8 million and SAR 702 million, respectively.
