MANAMA — An attack drone caused damage to Bahrain International Airport early Sunday, the Interior Ministry said, marking at least the fourth strike on a commercial airport in the region since Israel and the United States launched military operations against Iran on Saturday.Authorities said the strike caused no fatalities and resulted in limited material damage.A senior Civil Aviation Affairs official said rapid response protocols were activated immediately after the airport was targeted.The official noted that emergency plans had been put into effect in advance, including the evacuation of the passenger terminal as a precautionary measure to protect travelers and staff.Emergency teams, Bahrain Airport Company and airport security personnel implemented response procedures that included isolating affected areas, strengthening inspection and surveillance measures, and verifying the safety of critical facilities, navigation systems and operational infrastructure.Field teams heightened readiness levels and coordinated with joint operations rooms to ensure continuity of operations in line with the highest safety standards, the official said.Coordination between security and technical authorities remains ongoing to safeguard the airport and ensure the safety of passengers and staff.Separately, Government Hospitals said Salmaniya Medical Complex received four injured individuals following a hostile Iranian attack targeting Bahrain.Three of the injuries were minor and treated in accordance with medical protocols before the patients were discharged.The fourth case was described as moderate, with the patient placed under medical observation until his condition stabilizes.Government Hospitals said the emergency response plan had been activated and readiness levels raised across key departments, including emergency and intensive care units, to ensure continued delivery of healthcare services.
