US President Donald Trump said both Moscow and Kyiv are interested in resolving the war in Ukraine, noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin has become more inclined toward peace following the recent drop in oil prices. 
“We’re in a good position to settle with Russia as oil prices are down,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
According to Reuters, Trump added: “Russia wants a settlement, and so does Ukraine. We’ve made a lot of progress, and something might happen—we hope so.”
The comments come as oil prices—considered a key driver of the Russian economy—have fallen by around $15 per barrel since the beginning of the year, amid increased output efforts by OPEC+ and continued uncertainty over global trade tensions.
