Saudi ports recorded a 10.58% increase in container handling, reaching 8.32 milliontwenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2025, up from 7.52 millionTEUs ayearearlier.
In a statementtoday, Jan. 17, the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said transshipment containers saw a rise of 11.78% to 1.93 million TEUs from 1.72 millionTEUs in 2024.
The number of outbound containers rose 11.72% to 3.15 millionfrom 2.82 millionTEUs.
Inbound containers also increased by 8.82% to 3.42 millionTEUs from 2.98 millionTEUs in 2024.
Total cargo throughput tonnage increased by 1.06% to 242.07million tonsin 2025, from 239.53 million tons in 2024. General cargo reached 12.01 milliontons in 2025, while dry bulk and liquid bulk cargo stood at 176.33million tons and 53.74million tons, respectively.
The number of passengers jumped 47.07% to 1.08 million from 736,180 in 2024. On the other hand, the maritime traffic declined by 17.98% to 9,508 ships in 2025, compared to 11,592 ships in 2024.
The number of cars decreased by 4.92% YoY to 1.03 million. Ports received 8.99 million livestock heads in 2025, down 7.55% compared to 9.72 million in 2024.
